Adult College and Career Readiness Standards

What higher purpose could there be than to empower others to fulfill a life brimming with opportunity, achievement, and success.  That is our calling, as teachers, to prepare individuals, not just for the high school equivalency exam, but to meet all of life’s challenges.  The new Adult College and Career Readiness standards are meant to provide that vital link between education and the realities of the working world.

“Students need better knowledge and tools to compete in the global economy.  Employers are stating that employees are unprepared to thrive and perform in the work place. “

(Paraphrased from material in Common Core Standards: A New Foundation for Student Success).

This workshop, grounded in evidence and research, will help address the key shifts (shifts in what, methods, content, lesson planning) in Adult Education and Literacy classrooms to meet this increased rigor required for student success in the 21st century.

Attendants must bring Adult College and Career Readiness Standards handout. Ask your director for guidance.
