Evidence Based Writing-Developing Writers Who Succeed in Life

Did you know that four out of five students are not proficient writers?  Did you know that one-third of all workers fall short of employers’ expectations in written communication.   In fact, poor writing costs employers $3.1 billion per year!  This workshop is designed to help you prepare your students to meet the increasing skills required by the Adult College and Career Readiness Standards, employers, post-secondary training programs, and to succeed in daily communication.

Whether you teach ABE, ELL, or ASE students, you will learn how to choose the right text and ask the type of questions in order to teach your students evidence-based writing.   We will explore the three ELA/Literacy advances and ways to build knowledge through content-rich nonfiction as well as engage in activities that you can implement in your classroom.
